Updated: Oct 29, 2020

This summer Yackez says farewell to their stage show of the last 4 years, before their upcoming residency commission at New York Live Arts! It is my pleasure and honor to join them in documenting rehearsals and performances, as well as learning about performance art through out our time together.

There are 2 shows happening this week and more! Check out Yackez at DANCENOISE's retrospective opening at the Whiteney Museum and come out their final performance at the 24th Annual HOT! Festival at Dixon Place. Join them in their farewell as they geer up for new adventure into their creative process at their New York Live Arts residency this fall/winter.

Gallery at BRIC House Thursday JULY 23 : Workshop w Larissa Velez-Jackson THE PERFORMANCE STATE AS PRACTICE 3:00 PM-6:00 PM FREE MR@BRIC Process Labs are workshops facilitated by dance and movement-based artists to share their individual creative practice and process with peer artists and the general public. In this special summer series (in partnership with BRIC), they will explore how these practices interact with the spacious and dynamic public gallery space of BRIC House. Using Larissa Velez-Jackson’s performance practice, Star Crap Method, as a guide, this workshop employs (and blurs) speech, movement, looking, sounding, and writing. Practitioners will examine how these forms can relate to multiply making in real-time. With performance as a tool, we experience a state of being that annihilates the boundaries between perception, improvisation, and composition. Leaving room to create (or fail at) new skill sets. These labs are geared towards performing artists and anyone interested in movement exploration. This public program takes place in conjunction with the exhibition Clifford Ross: Water | Waves | Wood exhibition, which will serve as the stunning backdrop for this workshop.
